WhatsApp as a direct sales channel

Why WhatsApp is no longer just customer service but the most effective direct sales channel for hotels. Concrete strategies to quote, follow up, and support the decision.

A couple of years ago, WhatsApp was "the channel where guests ask questions." Today it's the channel where the smartest hotels are closing direct bookings every day.

The difference isn't the channel. It's how you use it.

The most common mistake

Most hotels use WhatsApp reactively: they wait for the guest to message, answer the question, and wait for the guest to say "I want to book."

The problem: most travelers don't say "I want to book." They ask, compare, get distracted, and book somewhere else.

WhatsApp as a sales channel: the model that works

The hotels that are converting more inquiries into bookings do three things differently:

  1. Quote, don't just inform. When someone asks "how much is the room?", the answer isn't just the price. It's the price + what's included + why it's better to book direct + an invitation to confirm. A complete quote, not a standalone rate.
  2. Follow up actively. If the traveler hasn't replied within 24 hours, reach out again with something new: "Hi, I'm reaching out because we're opening up rooms for those dates tomorrow" or "I wanted to let you know breakfast is included if you book before Friday."
  3. Support the decision. Often the traveler doesn't need a discount. They need you to resolve the question that's holding them back. Is the neighborhood safe? Is there parking? Do you allow pets? A quick, clear answer can be the difference between losing and winning the booking.

The assistant that does all of this automatically

What I described above is exactly what the WeSpeak assistant does: it responds, quotes, follows up, and detects when it's time to hand off to a person to close.

Not like a robot. Like a team member who never gets tired, never has a bad day, and is available 24 hours a day.
