FITUR 2026 and Merry Christmas

FITUR 2026 in Madrid: more than 50% growth in the Travel Technology space and a new Knowledge Pavilion. Happy holidays to all hoteliers.

First things first: Merry Christmas.

If you're reading this newsletter on Christmas Day, you're probably the kind of hotelier who never fully switches off. The one who uses a quiet moment to catch up. The one who thinks about the business even when they should be resting.

I get it. And I'll also say this: take the rest you need. Your business will be better off if you're well.

FITUR 2026: what we already know

FITUR 2026 takes place in Madrid from January 21 to 25. A few facts that caught my attention:

  • The Travel Technology space grew by more than 50% compared to the previous year. Technology is no longer a secondary pavilion at FITUR. It's one of the main pillars.
  • There will be a new Knowledge Pavilion, dedicated to training and industry trends.
  • More than 150 countries represented.

WeSpeak will be at FITUR 2026. If you're going and want to meet up, let me know.

Bill Gates and the 2-day workweek

Bill Gates predicted this week that AI will lead to a 2-day workweek within the next decade. It may sound radical, but it reflects something real: automation is going to profoundly change which tasks humans do and which ones machines do.

For tourism: more free time = more travel. That's good news for the industry.

Happy holidays. See you in 2026.
