Happy New Year and Latin America
The last day of the year. A tribute to the hoteliers who never stop. And the IDB data: Latin America and the Caribbean are growing 5.2% annually in tourism, with 115 million arrivals in 2024.
Today is December 31. And if you're reading this, your hotel is probably full, your team is working, and you're somewhere between adrenaline and exhaustion.
Thank you for the whole year. Thank you for trusting WeSpeak. Thank you for continuing to read.
Latin America and the Caribbean: IDB data
The Inter-American Development Bank published its tourism report for the region. The numbers are striking:
- +5.2% annual growth in regional tourism
- 115 million international arrivals in 2024, representing 7.8% of the global total
- The region's tourism services exports grew by +42.3% over the past decade (from 65 billion to 108 billion USD between 2014 and 2024)
Latin America isn't an emerging market in tourism. It's a market that has already emerged.
OpenAI Sora arrives in Latin America
OpenAI announced the expansion of Sora —its AI video generation tool— to more countries in Latin America. For hotels: high-quality video content generation is about to be completely democratized.
Creating a video for Instagram that showcases your hotel will no longer require a production team. That changes the content equation for independent hotels.
Happy New Year
May 2026 bring more guests, more direct bookings, and more memorable moments at your hotel.
See you in January, full steam ahead.
